Description

Cerro Catedral is a trip that departs from the city center of Bariloche and follows Route 40 southwards. During the journey, we skirt Lake Gutiérrez and catch sight of Cerro Ventana and Cerro Catedral. Upon reaching Lake Mascardi, we can appreciate its various colors depending on the sunlight. The trip continues through Nahuel Huapi National Park, with brief stops at spots like Playa Negra, the Rapids, and the Isla Corazón viewpoint. Further on, we get the first view of Mount Tronador, whose name comes from the Mapuche language and refers to the sound of ice breaking off the glaciers. Tronador serves as the border between Argentina and Chile and is the highest peak in the Patagonian region. At the base of the mountain, we find Tronador in all its glory, with eternal snows, the Black Glacier, and a lagoon formed by the melting of the glaciers.
